FINTCH was born as a space dedicated to humor cinema in its multiple forms. More than just provoking laughter, the festival values films that use comedy as a tool for invention, critique, and reflection on the contemporary world. With international programming, free screenings, and a focus on diversity of genres and languages, the festival brings the audience closer to independent works that rarely find space in the commercial circuit, reaffirming humor as one of the most powerful expressions in cinema. Humor knows no single formula. At FINTCH, it crosses genres, countries, and cultures, taking on forms ranging from satire to the absurd, from irony to dark comedy. In its first two editions, the festival brought together productions from 18 countries and presented the public with a diverse panorama of contemporary independent cinema. Brazilian and foreign films share the screen in a program that reveals different ways of observing daily life, questioning behaviors, and transforming human experiences into humor.

Held for the first time in 2022, at the MAM Rio Cinematheque, FINTCH expanded its journey in 2024 by reaching Búzios, occupying the Gran Cine Bardot with an international and free program. In different cities and screening venues, the festival reaffirms its vocation to bring the audience closer to new cinemas and different forms of humor.
